2005 Toyota Avalon
Toyota’s flagship sedan, the 2005 Avalon, is marked by attractive styling, a powerful and smooth drivetrain, and a spacious and comfortable cabin. It also happens to be one of the safest cars on the road today.

Weighing in at 3,490-lbs., the least expensive XL model sells for $26,350 (plus a $540 destination charge) and features standard front side airbags, side curtain airbags, driver’s knee airbag, a front passenger airbag cutoff sensor, antilock brakes, and electronic brake-force distribution. Prices rise up to $33,540 for the Limited model, which can be equipped with traction control, stability control, and electronic brake assistance. These options can also be added to the XLS model that sells for $30,800. Regardless of which model is selected, passenger room is a generous 106.9 cubic feet, and cargo room maxxes out at 14.4 cubic feet.

In NHTSA testing, the 2005 Toyota Avalon received five stars for the driver and front passenger in a frontal crash, five stars for the front and rear occupants in a side crash, and four stars for its rollover rating. In IIHS testing, the 2005 Toyota Avalon received a Best Pick ranking for its offset frontal crash test performance.
