Hemi-powered Dodge Ram pickups are nothing new. But when that 5.7-liter V8 gets installed in a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 and is coupled with substantial drivetrain and suspension modifications to create the biggest, baddest off-roading pickup on the market, the Dodge Ram Power Wagon is born, and takes our Autobytel Editors' Choice award for Best New Large Pickup of 2005.

Available with a regular cab or four-door Quad Cab, the new Dodge Ram Power Wagon's Hemi makes 345 horsepower and 375 lb.-ft. of torque. An automatic transmission delivers power to all four wheels, upon which rides a new suspension with a two-inch taller stance and greater wheel articulation than the competition thanks to an electronically decoupling front stabilizer bar. Front and rear electronic differentials meter power from the engine, delivering it to special 33-inch B.F. Goodrich all-terrain tires. Bilstein gas-charged shocks, 4.56 gearing, increased approach and departure angles, and a Warn 12,000-pound winch all come standard to ensure the Power Wagon's off-road prowess. Exterior changes are limited to 17-inch forged aluminum wheels, matte-finish wheel flares, and Power Wagon badge on the back.

We like it when an automaker speaks softly but carries a big stick, and judge the Dodge Ram Power Wagon to be the Best New Large Pickup of 2005.
